Warrants issued for Nanaimo man for failing to appear in court on assault and mischief charges

Nanaimo RCMP sasy warrants have been issued for 39-year-old Ovidiu Bezdan of Nanaimo for failing to appear in Nanaimo Provincial Court on charges of assault and mischief.

Nanaimo RCMP are asking the public’s help to find a man who is the subject of warrants, after failing to appear in court on charges of assault and mischief.

Police say charges against 39-year-old Ovidiu Bezdan of Nanaimo stem from an incident Sep. 23, 2019, at the Circle K convenience on Departure Bay Road.

Bezdan allegedly entered the business around 10:30 p.m. and attempted to fill a re-usable cup, and a clerk went over to assist as Bezdan appeared to be having some difficulty.

RCMP say that is when Bezdan allegedly, without any provocation, grabbed merchandise off the shelves and began throwing it at the clerk and throughout the store.

As he was leaving, he picked up a carton of washer fluid, and threw it at the front glass window.

Police say Bezdan fled on foot and was located a short time later with the help of an RCMP Police Service Dog.

Ovidiu Bezdan is as being 5’6″, 150 pounds with short black hair and green eyes, and some facial hair.

Police provided a recent photo of Bezdan.
