On a particularly windy Monday morning, Environment Canada has issued a wind warning for Greater Victoria that is expected to last into the afternoon.
The southeast winds are forecast to be 70 km/h gusting to 90 with the strongest winds near the water.
“A frontal system moving through Vancouver Island is generating very strong winds across Juan de Fuca Strait and Haro Strait,” Environment Canada says on its website.
“Winds will abate late this afternoon as the frontal system weakens.”
The weather agency is advising that the high winds may toss loose objects or cause tree branches to break. Additionally, power outages may occur.
Drivers are advised to adjust their driving in the event of changing road conditions.
