Nanaimo RCMP are asking for the public's help to identify a suspect after a wallet and phone was stolen from a vehicle July 2.

Nanaimo RCMP hopes someone can help identify a suspect that stole a wallet and phone from a vehicle, and allegedly used a credit card contained in the wallet.

Police say on the morning of July 2, a wallet and Samsung S9 were taken from an unlocked vehicle parked in the area of Rutherford Road and Willis road.

Later in the day, RCMP say the male suspect was seen on video surveillance allegedly using a stolen RBC credit card that was in the wallet for an unlawful purchase at Thrifty Foods in the Port Place Shopping Centre.

Police say two other illegal transactions were carried out at other businesses that same day.

Anyone with information on the identity of the person is asked to call Nanaimo RCMP at 250-754-2345 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
