One person is dead, and two others are in serious condition after what police are calling a violent struggle in a Brentwood Bay home.

Josh Haymes who lives on the street says he was the one to call 9-1-1. Haymes says he came home at around midnight and heard glass breaking and screams shortly after Haymes recalls seeing an unknown man get into a white car that almost “ran him over” as the man drove away.

Central Saanich Police Chief Constable Les Sylven said that officers were called to a residence on the 7200-block of Meadowlark Lane at 12:30 a.m. Saturday after reports of a disturbance.

They arrived and gained entry to the home and immediately found signs of the violent struggle, and one person dead.

An adult man was taken into custody following the incident, and the two others hurt were taken to hospital.

Police do not believe that the attack was random.

The Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit has taken over the investigation and is still on the scene.

“It just happened earlier this morning… as soon as more information is known they will share it,” said Sylven
