Vikes pull off massive upset over UBC in women’s soccer opener

CHEK

The Vikes’ defence and goaltending came to the forefront, as goalie Puck Louwes made 11 saves, as UVic toppled the #3 ranked team in country 1-0 in their season opener at Centennial Stadium yesterday.

The Vikes would only need one goal to defeat UBC, and it came in the 32nd minute, as Rachel Baird found Kiara Kilbey in the box and made no mistake. The win comes as a massive upset for the Vikes, who will look to use this win as momentum, as they travel to the mainland for next weekend, where they take on Fraser Valley and Trinity Western.
