A video taken by a cyclist in downtown Victoria shows an alarming near-collision between a mobility scooter and a car.
The video shows a mobility scooter starting to cross Fisgard/Balmoral Streets, with the walking person signal on, when a red car turns right onto Quadra Street. The man on the scooter is seen doing a quick 90-degree turn to avoid the car.
After the driver in the car drives away, the man waves to indicate he is OK.
Jim Thompson, a Victoria cyclist who has captured collisions and other bizarre incidents on his 207-degree camera, took the video. Thompson is heard telling the man on the scooter that he did have the right away.
Victoria police said Wednesday if an incident like this reported to them, they will follow up.
