Some of the top men and women cyclists from across Western Canada took part in Sunday’s Russ Hays Grand Prix. The route of the European-style road race took the cyclists around a one-kilometre loop of downtown Victoria’s legislature building.
2012 Olympic Bronze Medalist and UVIC graduate Gillian Carleton captured the 35-lap elite women’s race, despite trailing with less than two laps remaining.
Connor Toppings of Calgary, biking for team Smart Savvy, captured the men’s 40-lap race.
The Russ Hays Grand Prix was the final event in the weekend-long Robert Cameron Law Cycling Series.
