Victoria welcomes ‘Queen Elizabeth’ cruise ship Thursday

Up to nearly 2,200 passenger and crew arrived in Victoria Thursday morning on the cruise ship Queen Elizabeth.

The vessel arrived at Ogden Point for its maiden call to Victoria, kicking off Cunard’s maiden season to Alaska.

Cunard says the ship was christened in 2010 by Queen Elizabeth II and is 965.5 feet in length and weighs 90,900 gross tons and offers 12 passenger decks.

Queen Elizabeth is scheduled to depart at midnight for Vancouver.
