Victoria unemployment falls to national low of 3.8 per cent in October

Victoria boasts the lowest unemployment rate among Canadian cities as Statistics Canada released job figures for October.

The unemployment rate in Victoria fell to 3.8 per cent last month from 4.5 per cent in September.

Of the Canadian cities surveyed by Stats Canada, Victoria is the only one to fall under four per cent.

B.C. has the lowest unemployment rate in the country, holding steady at 4.9 per cent from September.

The national unemployment rate rose to 6.3 per cent from 6.2 per cent in September.

Stats Canada says there was a net increase of more than 35-thousand jobs nationwide.

In the 12 months leading up to October, Stats Canada reports a 0.7 per cent drop in unemployment in Canada.
