Fred “Whitey” Severson has passed away.

Severson played for the Shamrocks from 1951 to 1963, setting records for scoring and games played along the way. He played in six Mann Cups, winning three, and is one of the few to participate in a Mann Cup as a player, a coach, and a referee.

Inducted into the Greater Victoria Sports Hall of Fame in 2012, and inducted as an Honoured Member of the Canadian Lacrosse Hall of Fame in 1970,

Off the floor, Whitey became a Saanich Alderman in the 70s and retiring as Deputy Chief of the Victoria Fire Department in 1985.
