Victoria Police say investigators are seeking witnesses and video footage after a person was stabbed multiple times in the city’s downtown Wednesday morning.

According to VicPD, BC Emergency Health Services (BC EHS) notified officers around 4:30 a.m. that a person had been stabbed in the 1500-block of Quadra Street, between Pandora Avenue and Mason Street.

Officers arrived on scene and found the victim with stab wounds wrapped in “improvised dressings,” VicPD said in a news release.

“The victim initially refused medical treatment and indicated they did not want to speak with officers,” police said.

“BC EHS paramedics arrived and, with the assistance of officers, were able to convince the victim to let them see where they had been stabbed.”

Paramedics then discovered that the victim, who had multiple stab wounds to the arms and chest, required immediate emergency medical treatment and was suffering “potentially life-threatening injuries.”

“Officers apprehended the victim and BC EHS paramedics transported them to hospital for medical treatment. Their injuries are now considered non-life-threatening,” according to VicPD.

Police say the incident remains under investigation and ask anyone with information or CCTV footage to call VicPD’s report desk at 250-995-7654 extension 1.
