Victoria Police are hoping the public can help identify a person of interest as Major Crime Unit detectives investigate a stabbing Saturday night.

Police say the incident was reported shortly before 10 p.m. May 8, which sent a man to hospital with potentially life-altering injuries.

Patrol officers were investigating a report of a man with a gun at Beacon Hill Park when they were called to a multi-unit residential temporary housing building in the 1900-block of Douglas Street, where a man was reportedly stabbed.

When officers arrived they discovered the victim with stab wounds.

The man was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening, but potentially life-altering injuries.

The person of interest is described as standing 5’11” tall. He was last seen wearing a grey hooded sweater with black and blue writing on the front, baggy dark-coloured pants, white and black running shoes, a black hat, and a black bandana with white colouring on it.

He was carrying a dark-coloured shoulder bag.

There have been no arrests and the incident is still under investigation.

Victoria Police says if anyone recognizes the person of interest, or has information about this incident that have not spoken with officers to call 250-995-7654 or Greater Victoria Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
