In an undercover operation targetting distracted drivers in September, Victoria Police says it issued 74 tickets during its campaign.

Authorities say traffic officers were sent to high-collision intersection and roads throughout the month in plain clothes.

Uniformed officers backed them up and pulled over distracted drivers, with nearly all of the tickets issued for use of an electronic device while driving.

Police say they will continue to focus on distracted driving enforcement in the months ahead.

VicPD says distracted driving is one of the leading causes of death and injury on B.C. roads.
