A woman chased a security guard at a Victoria mall with a knife Thursday afternoon, according to police.

Victoria police responded to the call at 12:30 p.m. at the Hillside Shopping Centre. When officers arrived on scene, they were told the woman had been in a loud argument with a man in a parking lot.

A security guard asked them to leave and the woman allegedly threatened him. She then pulled out a knife and began to chase him, according to police.

The guard called 911 and the man and woman left the parking lot, heading northbound on Hillside Avenue toward Shelbourne Street.

When VicPD arrived, the suspects had already left the scene.

The security guard was not physically injured, police said.

VicPD is describing the suspect as a 20-year-old woman standing five feet, five inches tall with a slim build. The woman was wearing black clothes and has long brown hair. A picture of the woman is below.

Anyone with information about the incident or the suspect’s identity is asked to call VicPD’s non-emergency line at (250)-995-7654, ext. 1 or call Greater Victoria Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 to report anonymously.
