Victoria police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a man sought in connection to a random assault of an employee at a downtown retail store.

A staff member told police that just after 9:30 p.m. last Friday a man had entered their store on the 700-block of Yates Street and immediately moved to a staff-only area.

When the staff member approached him, the man allegedly became agitated and then assaulted the employee — who suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect is described as caucasian male between 20-25 years of age, standing 5 feet, 11 inches tall with a medium build.

Police say he has “mop-like” brown hair with curly bangs, and brown eyes and was wearing a dark blue button up shirt with white flowers on it with the sleeves rolled to the forearms, and blue jeans.

Anyone with information on the suspect’s whereabouts or has information about the incident is asked to contact Victoria police at (250) 995-7654 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
