Victoria Police says they are investigating a suspected bicycle "chop-shop" in Beacon Hill Park.

Victoria Police says an investigation continues after tips from the public led officers to an alleged bicycle “chop-shop” in a secluded area of Beacon Hill Park.

VicPD officers arrived around 9 a.m. Tuesday and found a large number of bicycles in various states and other bike parts.

There were other properties discovered including power tools, industrial torches and propane tanks.

Victoria Police did not say if any arrests were made, but the investigation continues.

To protect yourself from bike thieves, authorities advise you to record your bicycle serial numbers and, if your bike is stolen, report it to the police.

VicPD says they often find bikes abandoned or likely stolen, but have a difficult time returning them to their owners as they are not reported lost or stolen.
