Victoria Police says a man has been taken into custody after a weapons and mental health call on Hillside Avenue late Tuesday afternoon.
A large police presence could be seen in 11-hundred block of Hillside, with Graham Street closed from Hillside to Kings Road.
Police say officers responded to an apartment building just after 4:30 p.m. for a report a man was in crisis and had a weapon.
Victoria Police says the scene was contained and the man was contacted.
The Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team (GVERT) including the Crisis Negotiators responded.
The man was taken into custody a short time later and transported to hospital for evaluation.
