The Victoria Police Department said that a woman has been arrested following a Sunday incident that involved an alleged robbery with a weapon and an assault on a VicPD officer.

According to a police report, officers responded to a business located in the 900-block of Douglas Street at around 10 a.m. Police had received a report of a robbery, where a suspect stole multiple items from a store while threatening to harm staff with a weapon.

Police have not yet released what weapon was used to threaten staff during the incident.

Police said that by the time they had arrived on the scene, the suspect had fled the location. An investigation launched and approximately one hour after the robbery, police said they arrested the identified suspect in the 900-block of Pandora Avenue.

As VicPD went to arrest the woman, she “assaulted a patrol officer.”

According to police, the officer suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was able to complete the remainder of their shift.

The woman was held in the cells at the Victoria Police Department overnight and was scheduled to attend court on Monday.
