The Victoria Police Department says that 15 people were arrested Wednesday on outstanding warrants during a one-day enforcement project.

The project, called Warrant Wednesday, was executed on April 13 and entailed patrol officers focusing on locating and arresting individuals wanted for outstanding warrants in Victoria.

The day-long affair led to the arrest of 15 men and women who were wanted for a variety of offences, according to VicPD.

Police say that some of the warrants included mischief, assault with a weapon, breach of probation, assaulting a police officer, uttering threats, and assault causing bodily harm.

As part of the arrests, police say that two men wanted on Canada-wide warrants for parole revocation were arrested separately in the 500-block of Johnson Street. VicPD says that both were serving federal prison sentences and were returned to the custody of Corrections Canada.

Previous warrant enforcement projects of a similar nature led to the arrests of 23 people in January or 2021, and 27 people in May of 2021.

Victoria Police is thanking the public for the information which led to the arrests, while also encouraging the community to reach out with any information about wanted persons.
