Victoria, Nanaimo, Cowichan Valley transit to return to fall schedule

Fall schedule changes are coming to BC Transit systems in Victoria, Nanaimo and the Cowichan Valley.

Victoria

In Victoria, Routes that serve K-12 schools and post-secondary schools will have increased service to account for students taking the bus to and from school.

Route 17 Cedar Hill will be reintroduced for the school season, adjusting service on the 70 daily and Sunday service on the 75, and Route 25 Maplewood/Tillicum Centre will run on Gorge Road West between Admirals and Tillicum roads.

In Sooke, the Park and Ride on Highway 14 at Gillespie Road is now open to the public.

Additionally, the following eight routes will have late-night service introduced.

  • 4 UVic/Downtown
  • 6 Royal Oak Exchange/Downtown
  • 14 Vic General/UVic
  • 15 Esquimalt/UVic
  • 26 Dockyard/UVic
  • 27 Gordon Head/Downtown
  • 28 Majestic/Downtown
  • 95 Langford/Downtown RapidBus

These changes come into effect on Sept. 5.

Cowichan Valley

Starting on Sept. 3, there will be changes to routes 44, 66 and 99.

Routes 44 and 66 will be combined to become Route 66 CVX Cowichan – Victoria Express. It will include stops at Koksilah Road at Highway 1 on Saturdays.

One late morning trip at 9:23 a.m. and early afternoon trip at 1:45 p.m. to the Cowichan Valley will replace the existing 5:55 a.m. to Victoria and 4:45 p.m. to the Cowichan Valley trips.

Route 99 will become Route 99 SVX Shawnigan Lake – Victoria Express.

Nanaimo

Starting on Sept. 3, seasonal service on routes to K-12 schools and Vancouver Island University will be reintroduced.

The Route 25 Ferry Shuttle is also having schedule adjustments to better align with the BC Ferries’ Departure Bay schedule, and a change is coming for the Route 70 NCX Nanaimo – Cowichan Express in order to better connect with the Route 66 CVX Cowichan – Victoria Express.
