A 23-year-old man from Victoria was arrested for dangerous driving early Monday morning after a vehicle rolled over and landed in some bushes in front of a home.

Just after midnight, a Saanich police patrol officer was stopped at the intersection of Tattersall Avenue and Quadra Street. According to police, as the officer was about to turn north onto Quadra Street, he saw a vehicle going north on Quadra Street and approaching the intersection at a high rate of speed.

Police said the vehicle appeared to brake hard, then mounted the sidewalk. Police said the vehicle then flipped onto its roof and came to rest in some bushes in front of a home in the 3500 block of Quadra Street. The patrol officer immediately went to the driver, who was the lone occupant, and called both the Saanich Fire Department and the B.C. Ambulance Service. The male driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The driver was arrested for dangerous driving and released on a promise to appear. His first court appearance will be at the end of October.
