All Aboard! If you are looking to work in the cruise ship industry this summer when ships return to Victoria, you are in luck.

Saturday, March 19, will mark the return of Victoria’s cruise ship job fair, spearheaded by the Victoria Cruise Industry Alliance (VCLA).

Ahead of the first season since the pandemic, the Cruise Tourism Industry Job Fair will once again return to Ogden Point Pier B — located at 185 Dallas Road — from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.

The job fair will showcase opportunities from across Greater Victoria and offer attendees the chance to learn more about careers in tourism, according to the VCLA.

“Victoria is home to a vibrant tourism and hospitality industry sector,” said Anna Poustie, VCIA Chair. “The cruise industry is poised for a successful return to Victoria and we’re ready to welcome visitors back to our shores. We’re encouraging all those that are interested in this exciting sector to attend our job fair to meet with potential employers.”

Local businesses such as Butchart Gardens, Greater Victoria Harbour Authority, Orca Spirit, and Victoria Pedicabs will be present at the job fair, recruiting positions for the upcoming summer season and beyond.

The VCLA says positions are available for people at every stage of their careers including youth, post-secondary students, grads transitioning into careers and those looking to stay active in their retired years.

“It’s a great time to explore new employment opportunities in cruise tourism. Our industry continues to grow, and we are always looking for new and talented people,” said Poustie. “Cruise tourism and those who work in the sector are playing an important role in our local economy. We’re contributing to the high quality of life that Victoria residents enjoy and are attracting visitors to British Columbia. Victoria Cruise Industry Alliance is happy to support local businesses by providing a forum to connect with job seekers.”

In the first year that cruises will return to Victoria since the COVID-19 pandemic, the Greater Victoria Harbour Authority is anticipating over 300 ships and 760,000 passengers.

Visitors to the job fair are encouraged to bring a resume.
