Victoria businessman gets two years in jail for sexual interference

A former Victoria businessman was sentenced to two years less a day in jail after pleading guilty to sexual interference with four children under the age of 16.

Fifty-one-year-old Michael David Mahy had been charged with two counts of sexual interference of a person under the age 14, two counts of sexual inference of a person under the age of 16 and one count of sexual exploitation. According to court records, the incidents took place between 2003 and 2009.

Mahy pled guilty to the four counts of sexual interference. The judge sentenced him to two years less a day, followed by three years of probation for sex crimes against children. His name will go on the sex-offender registry. Mahy must also provide a sample of his DNA for the national sex offender registry.

Prior to his court appearances, the accountant and bookkeeper posted YouTube videos about financial topics, with titles such as “Identity Theft” and “Budget With Your Kids.” He also posted other videos with self-help advice including one on taking things for granted and another on dealing with difficult people.
