Victoria Coats for Kids is a registered charity, founded in 1998, to ensure no child in the city would be cold during the winter.

So far this fall, the charity has received been more than 275 requests for warm coats.

Leila Durzi, who volunteers with the organization, says “we are looking for coats in good condition, that are warm, with zippers that work, and no holes. New is always better, or gently used is fine too.

“We really believe that every child deserves a warm coat. It’s never their fault that they don’t have a warm coat.”

Hillside Centre has partnered with Victoria Coats for Kids to receive donations and has created a colouring sheet for children to drop off.

“Hillside Centre decided that we would make a donation up to $1000” says Michele Paget, from Hillside Centre, “and we’re asking people to colour the Coats For Kids sheets, bring them in, and we’ll just string them up for fun.”

The Victoria Coats for Kids campaign continues until March 31.

You can drop off your donations at Hillside Centre, or reach out to the charity through Facebook or e-mail [email protected].
