Victoria Police have revealed they are searching for a suspect following a downtown assault that left a man with life-altering injuries.

Victoria police say they are searching for a suspect following a downtown assault that left a man with life-altering injuries.

Police are also reaching out to the public for any additional witnesses who may have seen the incident that unfolded in the area of Pandora Avenue and Quadra Street on Aug. 21.

Patrol officers said they responded to a report just after 8:30 p.m. about a man that had been assaulted.

Police said that when they arrived on scene, they found the victim lying in the bike lane on the northeast corner of Pandora Avenue, at the intersection of Quadra Street.

The man in the bike lane was unable to tell officers what occurred as he was suffering from injuries. After the victim was transported to hospital, authorities determined the victim had suffered “life-altering injuries.”

Although police are calling the injuries life-altering, they are said to be non-life-threatening.

According to VicPD, a nearby witness at the scene of the assault said the man had been “blindsided by an attacker,” which left him lying in the bike lane.

Police are describing the suspect as a Caucasian man who is approximately 50 years old. He is said to have shoulder-length hair and was wearing a long-sleeve grey shirt.

Investigators are asking for any witnesses with information on the assault, or who might have been in the area around the time of the incident, to come forward.

Victoria Police are asking anyone with possible information about the suspect to call (250) 995-7654 and select option 1 for the Report Desk.

To report what you know anonymously, please call Greater Victoria Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
