Victoria police are looking for an assault suspect who is seen throwing items at a McDonald’s employee in a surveillance video.

Police said they were called to an alleged assault at around 12:30 a.m. on July 14 at a restaurant in the 1500-block of Hillside Avenue. VicPD did not confirm the name of the restaurant but McDonald’s kiosks are seen in the surveillance video that was released by police.

Staff told police that a woman became verbally abusive with staff after a tomato was not included in her order.  When an employee offered to refund her money, the woman allegedly threw several items at the employee, striking him. This is shown in the surveillance footage.

Police said an unidentified man intervened and appeared to try to attempt to de-escalate the incident.

The video shows the woman then hit one of the ordering kiosks several times. The kiosk was knocked out of order. The woman and the man with her then left the restaurant, police said. The employee in the video who was hit with the items was not physically injured.

The suspect is described as Caucasian, 5’2″ (157 centimetres), with a slender build and blonde hair. She has tattoos on her left forearm and was wearing a dark blue T-shirt with light blue shoulders and a Disney character on the front. She was wearing light white pyjama style pants and white running shoes during the alleged assault.

Anyone with information about the incident or anyone who knows who the woman is asked to call the VicPD non-emergency line at 250-995-7654. To report what you know anonymously, call Greater Victoria Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
