VicPD search for suspect in sexual assault on Cormorant Street

VicPD say they are investigating a sexual assault.

Police in Victoria say they are looking for a suspect after a sexual assault was reported early Thursday morning.

Police said shortly before 4 a.m. Thursday, they were called to the 800-block of Cormorant Street for a report of a sexual assault.

When officers arrived, a woman told them she had been sexually assaulted by an unknown man. Police said the woman eventually fought off the man.

The man was last seen riding away from the area, southbound on Blanshard Street from Cormorant Street, on a grey mountain bike

The woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The suspect is described by Victoria police as an “adult-aged South Asian or Black man,” approximately 6’2″ with a slim build.

The suspect had short dark hair and a dark, scruffy beard, according to police. He wore a dark hooded sweater with the hood up and a mask over his face.
