Victoria Police says one of its officers has been suspended after new information about a misconduct complaint was brought forward.
In a release, VicPD says the officer was suspended during the course of an investigation.
The police agency does not specify what the complaint was, nor does it say who the officer is who was suspended.
The release says the complaint was made “earlier this year” and the Office of the Police Complaint Commissioner (OPCC) assigned the Vancouver Police Department to investigate.
“This week, the Vancouver Police Department Discipline Authority received new information about this complaint and has advised us that this officer will be suspended effective immediately,” the release says.
“The Victoria Police Department takes allegations of misconduct seriously and fully supports the investigative process and this decision; we are accountable to the citizens and communities we serve. We continue to support this investigation and further details cannot be shared at this time. “
