Victoria police is investigating after a father says he was approached by a stranger and asked if he would want to sell his child.

On March 1, around 3 p.m., a father was with his three-year-old daughter entering a store in the 1600-block of Hillside Avenue.

In a release, VicPD says the father was approached by a man, who asked the father if he wanted to sell his child and offered to give him money.

The father says he felt threatened by the man, and reported the incident to VicPD that evening.

The suspicious man is described as white, in his 70s, approximately 6 feet 2 inches tall with a heavy build, balding with a shortly-clipped haircut and possibly wearing glasses.

Anyone who was in the area at that time and has information about the incident is asked to call the VicPD Report Desk at (250) 995-7654 extension 1. To report what you know anonymously, you can call Greater Victoria Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
