VicPD asks people to record sexually explicit phone calls targeting female staff at businesses

As they continue to receive reports of indecent phone calls female staff at various businesses, Victoria police are now asking the public to record the calls if it is safe to do so.

Victoria police said they believe the same man is making the calls that target female staff at businesses. Police have received reports of the phone calls over the past seven months.

Now police say anyone who receives a sexually explicit phone call at a business to:

  • Write down the time, date and phone number of the call
  • Make notes of exactly what was said by the caller (specific words or phrases used) and anything identifying or unique about the voice, tone etc.
  • Record the calls when safe and possible to do so
  • Report the call to Victoria police’s non-emergency line at 250-995-7654.

Victoria police said the calls are multijurisdictional and detectives are working with RCMP on the Lower Mainland to identify the person responsible for the calls.
