Victoria Police seized this improvised firearm after a search of a stolen car Monday afternoon. The driver was arrested.

Victoria Police says a man is in custody after officers found a Royal Jubilee Hospital health care worker’s stolen vehicle.

The vehicle was spotted in the 1700-block of Douglas Street around 12:30 p.m. Monday, which was stolen the night before.

Not only was the driver arrested, but officers searched the vehicle and found a loaded improvised firearm, knives, a baton, drugs and stolen property.

Police say the firearm, also known as a “Zip Gun”, was equipped to fire 12-gauge shotgun shells.

The man was taken to Royal Jubilee Hospital due to medical concerns and was later released to the police.

VicPD says the file remains under investigation.
