A man is recovering in hospital after receiving life-threatening wounds from a woman who allegedly stabbed him in Victoria on Thursday afternoon.

Victoria police patrol officers were called to the 2900-block of Douglas Street just before 4:30 p.m. after hearing a report of a man who had been stabbed.

On arrival, police say officers found the man who was already receiving medical attention and he was sent to hospital.

Afterwards, VicPD discovered that the stabbing had been captured on surveillance video, and immediately identified the suspect and began to look for her.

Officers found out that the suspect had made her way up to Sidney, and B.C. officers liaised with the Sidney RCMP, who found the suspect, arrested her and took her back to VicPD cells.

During the search for the missing woman, patrol officers found out that the man who had been stabbed left the hospital against medical advice and was suffering from potentially life-threatening injuries.

Patrol officers immediately began searching for the victim who was found and taken back into protective custody before being transported back to hospital for medical treatment. He now remains in hospital.

The female suspect was held for morning court on recommended charges, including aggravated assault.
