BC Transit is offering veterans and active members of the Canadian Forces free rides in the Cowichan Valley Regional District leading up to Remembrance Day.

From Nov. 4 to 10, transit will be free for service members along all routes in the regional district, including handyDART services.

However, the free transit does not extend to interregional routes, including the 66 CVX Cowichan-Victoria, 70 NCX Nanaimo-Cowichan and 99 SVX Shawnigan Lake-Victoria.

On Remembrance Day, Nov. 11, public transit will be free for all residents in the Cowichan Valley Regional District, according to BC Transit.

Service will be reduced on Remembrance Day, however, with local transit routes operating on a Sunday schedule, while handyDART services will be running on a Saturday schedule.

Several interregional routes will also not be running on Nov. 11, including the routes to Eagle Heights, Ladysmith, Youbou and Honeymoon Bay.
