The damaged pole being replaced.

A traffic light at Hillside Avenue and Blanshard Street in Victoria was taken out early Saturday morning.

Construction crews have been on scene since 8 a.m., re-routing motorists through the intersection and working to get the replacement light up.

Traffic in the area is slow, with the Northbound lane on Blanshard Street completely closed off.

The old pole was still on display when CHEK News arrived at the scene, lying across the sidewalk with a large dent in its base.

CHEK has reached out to local police for more information, but it’s currently unclear what caused the incident or if anyone was injured.
