Police have provided this photo of Gladys Barman at the Petro Can gas station at West Saanich Road on July 5, 2018.

The vehicle belonging to a missing 82-year-old Oak Bay woman has been found, police said Monday.

According to Oak Bay police, a member of the public found Gladys Barman’s green Honda on a remote logging road behind Lake Cowichan on July 21.

Police said Barman is still considered missing. Search efforts are underway. Cowichan Search and Rescue, an RCMP helicopter, RCMP Police Dog Services and other agencies are all taking part in the search.

Barman was last seen at the Petro Canada gas station on West Saanich Road at 10 a.m. on July 5. She was driving a green 2002 Honda Accord with B.C. licence 940 RGA.

Earlier this month, Cowichan search and rescue teams helped police look for Barman around Genoa Bay and Maple Bay after Dan Sieffert reported a woman matching Barman’s description drove up to his shop and said she was almost out of gas. Sieffert gave her directions to a gas station and said she appeared disoriented at the time.

Anyone who may have seen the Honda or Barman in the Lake Cowichan area in the days leading up to July 21 is asked to call Lake Cowichan RCMP at 250-749-6669.

Gladys Barman, 82, was last seen on July 5, 2018.

Barman is described by police as 175 centimetres (5’9″) in height, weighing 86 kilograms (190 pounds) with blue eyes. Police said she was wearing glasses, a teal windbreaker, jeans and white sneakers. Here family said she has had some cognitive issues and memory loss recently.

On Monday afternoon, Barman’s son Neil tweeted a thank you out to everyone who had helped with the search so far.

“A professional SAR effort is underway. We have no other info to share at the moment and we need time to process the news,” Neil wrote in the tweet.
