A salmonella concern has triggered a recall by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency of various coconut products distributed in B.C.

The four products taken from the shelves include Green Tree frozen shredded young coconut, Captain’s Choice shredded and shredded young coconut and Coconut Tree shredded young coconut.

All products affected were sold up to Jan. 24.

The agency says food may not look or smell spoiled but can make you sick and more serious incidents possible for young children, pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems.

 

If you think you became sick from consuming a recalled product, you are advised to call your doctor.

The agency says the products were possibly distributed nationally.
