Uptown Mall has announced that they will be closing off a section of its main boulevard to vehicle traffic and making the area pedestrians access only.

Changes are coming to a popular mall in Saanich.

Uptown Shopping Centre has announced that they will be closing off a section of its main boulevard, from Famous Footwear to The North Face store, to vehicle traffic and making the area accessible to pedestrians only.

The move is being done to give shoppers more space for physical distancing, as B.C. begins to slowly reopen sections of its economy following a shutdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

A small portion of the boulevard, between Browns Social House and Zennkai Salon and The North Face, will remain open for one-hour vehicle parking and 15-minute drop off parking. One-hour parking will be available on the west side of H&M. The roundabout will also remain open, but with limited access from Douglas Street.

Meanwhile, vehicle access will be limited to Carey Road and Douglas Street entrances.

Uptown Shopping Centre is home to shops, restaurants, and other businesses such as H&M, Suzy Shier, Mucho Burrito, The Cookie Guy, Salon Felice, Michaels, and Best Buy.
