UPDATE: Rescue effort completed late Sunday night for a hiker in Sooke Hills Wilderness Regional Park

UPDATE: Juan De Fuca Search and Rescue (JDFSAR) said the subject of a rescue effort was handed over to B.C. Ambulance late Sunday night in Sooke Hills Wilderness Regional Park.

The JDFSAR provided the update on Facebook at 10:45 p.m.

A spokesperson with B.C. Emergency Health Services (BCEHS) says the woman was in stable condition when she was taken by ambulance members, with three ambulance crews on the scene.

The BCEHS says they got a call of an injured hiker at 2:16 p.m.

On Twitter, Metchosin fire chief Stephanie Dunlop said they were helping the injured hiker on the north side of Sugarloaf Mountain.

JDFSAR said about 30 search and rescue members were involved, with help from Metchosin fire, CRD and B.C. Ambulance Service.

ORIGINAL STORY: Rescue crews are working to help a woman who has slipped and possibly fractured her ankle in the Sooke Hills Wilderness Regional Park Sunday.

The Metchosin Fire Department, Juan de Fuca Search and Rescue, CRD and B.C. Ambulance service are all on the scene, near Sugarloaf Mountain.

Officials say they got the call around 3 p.m.

“We are all here to coordinate and help her out,” said Metchosin fire chief Stephanie Dunlop. “We are fighting the daylight,”
