Update: B.C. Hydro website shows power has been restored to the 1,928 customers affected by the power outage.
Original Story: Nearly 2,000 B.C. Hydro customers are out of power Friday morning in the Cowichan Valley with crews en route to fix the situation.
The outage occurred around 8:15 a.m. and B.C. Hydro personnel are expected to arrive by 9:25.
The cause is under investigation and 1,928 customers are affected.

The outage stretches from Genoa Bay north to Westholme Road, just south of Westholme.
The area runs from Somenos, west of Highway 1, all the way to the east coast of Vancouver Island, just west of Salt Spring Island.
