Multiple emergency crews responded to the two-vehicle collision that happened near the bridge on Ocean Blvd. on Esquimalt Lagoon at around 6:53 p.m.

West Shore RCMP, Colwood Fire Rescue, View Royal Fire Rescue and BC Ambulance Service all responded to the crash. The male rider on the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene and the female driver of the Ford Focus was assessed for minor injuries.

“The RCMP Collision analyst has completed a full examination and the vehicles will undergo mechanical inspections.  The cause of the collision remains under investigation,” Cpl. Chris Dovell of the West Shore RCMP said in a release.

Dovell confirmed speed is being looked into as a potential factor in the collision and the driver in the Ford Focus was possibly turning left at the time of the crash.

The crash closed Ocean Blvd at the bridge for several hours.
