One of the heartbreaking consequences of tightening our bubbles and staying home more during the pandemic has been an increase in domestic violence, according to various police departments across Canada.

Although the Victoria Women’s Transition House is doing all they can to help support women and their children fleeing intimate partner violence, they need support too and between Dec. 12-13, you can help them.

The Emerald Day Spa is holding its third annual Women Empowered fundraiser event on Dec. 12-13.

This year’s free event is virtual and those who attend are strongly encouraged to make a donation to the Victoria Women’s Transition House, as the weekend event is a fundraiser for the women’s shelter.

“Domestic violence is, unfortunately, escalating, and the severity of the violence is also escalating,” says Susan Howard, from Transition House. “We as an organization, rely on the generosity of the community to help us make ends meet. And events like this really support us, and help us support women and their children fleeing intimate partner violence and abuse.”
