Up to three-sailing waits for BC Ferries travellers on Thanksgiving Monday

BC Ferries said extra sailings have been added for Thanksgiving long weekend.

Many travellers heading home on BC Ferries for Thanksgiving Monday are facing sailing waits at various terminals.

Drivers without reservations saw three-sailing waits on Monday afternoon.

As of 4:30 p.m., there was a three sailing wait from Swartz Bay to Tsawwassen with the next available sailing at 8 p.m.

There’s a two sailing wait from Tsawwassen to Swartz Bay with the next available sailing at 7 p.m. Departure Bay to Horseshoe Bay also has a two sailing wait, while Duke Point to Tsawwassen has a one sailing wait. Langdale to Horseshoe Bay’s 5:05 p.m. sailing is full and 5:45 p.m. is 95 per cent full.

Thanksgiving Monday is the most popular travel day of the long weekend, according to BC Ferries, with traffic returning from the Departure Bay, Swartz Bay and Langdale terminals.

BC Ferries added 93 extra sailings over the long weekend, including 74 between Swartz Bay and Tsawwassen. No breakdowns were reported.
