CUPE 441 members voted today to ratify an agreement to end a three-week long strike in the Saanich School District

CUPE 441 members voted today to ratify an agreement to end a three-week long strike in School District 63 (Saanich).

In a release posted to the CUPE website, Union President Dean Coates thanked the bargaining committee for their hard work and the community for their strong support.

“We could not have reached this agreement without the backing of this community,” said Coates. “We commit to working with the School District to build a relationship of respect moving forward.”

The CUPE says that the agreement includes general wage increases of two per cent in each year of the three-year contract as per the Provincial Framework Agreement (PFA).

In a release posted to the Saanich School District website, the District says that the ratified agreement is consistent with the province’s Sustainable Services Negotiating Mandate.

The District says that a salary increase of 13 per cent will be allocated to education assistants over the life of the collective agreement.
