A crash on Burnside Road West near Tillicum Road caused some traffic delays Friday afternoon.

Saanich police, fire crews and BC Ambulance responded at around 1:30 p.m. to a collision involving two vehicles.  Debris was scattered all over the road after the crash.

Const. David Smit with the Saanich police said the driver of the grey vehicle suffered minor injuries.

“[It was] a significant collision between two vehicles,” Smit said.

“One vehicle attempting to make a left turn on a green light, failing to yield for another vehicle, causing one to do a 360-degree turn, striking a light pole.”

According to Smit, the van was the vehicle that was trying to turn left into Tillicum Centre and the silver vehicle was the one that hit the light pole. The traffic light fixture was heavily damaged, Smit said. The fluids from the crash have cleaned up and District of Saanich engineers are dealing with the traffic light.
