Two people have been arrested after a driver collided with two hydro poles in Esquimalt on Halloween night.
The incident took place shortly after 10 p.m. in the 800-block of Esquimalt Rd. on October 31, according to a police report.
Police say they were called to a report that a vehicle had collided with a hydro pole and when officers arrived on scene, they found significant damage to one pole and minor damage to another. At the scene, officers said they also found the vehicle’s front tire several metres away from the poles.
The driver and passenger of the vehicle – a woman and a man – remained at the scene and were not physically injured.
Officers said they believed alcohol was a factor in the collision and arrested the driver for impaired driving.
In addition, officers arrested the passenger for obstructing a peace officer. The driver and the passenger were transported to cells where they were held until morning.
The woman faces recommended charges of impaired driving and officers served the woman a 90-day Administrative Driving Prohibition, while also impounding the vehicle. The passenger was released without charges.
This file remains under investigation.
BC Hydro has been enlisted to repair the damages to both hydro poles.
