A truck driver faces charges including dangerous driving, flight from a peace officer and obstruction following an incident in Ladysmith on Thursday.
Police say that a tractor trailer was stopped by the Integrated Road Safety Unit (IRSU) around 2 p.m.
They say the driver was irate, refusing to identify himself, and that he then drove away while a police officer was still on the steps of the rig.
The officer had to leap from the steps of the moving rig onto a busy roadway. He was not injured.
The police officer again attempted to pull the vehicle over without success, police say the pursuit was stopped to prevent the public or bystanders from the possibility of being injured.
About 45-minutes later, a 58-year-old man from Duncan was arrested in another vehicle.
The file remains under investigation.
