Island Express Air is back in business following what Transport Canada calls a “robust review” of the company’s operations following a crash in February.

Transport Canada says it reinstated Island Express Air’s Air Operator Certificate after it addressed concerns regarding operation deficiencies.

The airline was suspended from operating Feb. 28 after a crash in Abbotsford Feb. 23 shortly after take-off carrying two crew and eight passengers.

Two people were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries and Transport Canada suspended Island Express for public safety reasons.

Transport Canada said the airline contravened Canadian Aviation Regulations but did not provide details.

Transport Canada says it will keep a close watch on the company’s operations to ensure it remains compliant with aviation safety regulations.

Island Express Air has operations in Victoria, Nanaimo and Comox.
