Three new healthcare facility COVID outbreaks, 47 new cases in Island Health

Health officials in B.C. are reporting three new COVID outbreaks in healthcare facilities and 47 new cases in Island Health.

The outbreaks are at Amica Douglas House in Victoria, Acacia Ty Mawr in Shawnigan Lake, and Sunridge Place Seniors in Duncan.

Two people died due to COVID, one in Vancouver Coastal Health and the other in Northern Health.

There are 218 new confirmed cases in the province, 80 in Interior Health, 45 in Fraser Health, 28 in Vancouver Coastal Health, 18 in Northern Health, and zero in people who normally reside outside Canada.

There are 260 people hospitalized with COVID-19 in the province and 50 are in intensive care.

From March 17-23, people not fully vaccinated accounted for 15.8 per cent of cases. From March 10-23, they accounted for 26.2 per cent of hospitalizations.

12.8 per cent of people eligible to receive vaccines have received fewer than two doses, 9.2 per cent have received no doses of a vaccine.

Since December 2020, the province has administered 11,468,257 doses COVID vaccines.
