Sooke RCMP says an investigation lasting several months has resulted in three arrests and the seizure of drugs intended for sale in the community.

Information was gathered by Sooke RCMP and the Vancouver Island General Investigation Section looking into heroin/fentanyl, cocaine and methamphetamine traffickers in Sooke.

“The success of this project and the arrest of these suspects show the community of Sooke how the local detachment is working hard to arrest local drug traffickers,” Sooke RCMP Commander Jeff McArthur said in a statement.

“The drugs are being tested, and fentanyl is suspected in some of the drugs seized.”

A 32-year-old male from Sooke was arrested May 11 and a search warrant was executed by police at his home on Maple Avenue South.

He faces charges of trafficking cocaine and possession of cocaine for trafficking.

A 31-year-old male from Sooke was also apprehended May 11 and faces two counts of trafficking heroin/fentanyl and possession of heroin/fentanyl, methamphetamine and cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.

RCMP say on May 23, a 52-year-old male from Sooke was arrested and faces two counts of trafficking heroin/fentanyl and one count of possession of heroin/fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking.

All three were released on a promise to appear in court July 24.

Sooke RCMP says the investigation continues and expect more charges and arrests to be made.
