The ongoing coronavirus pandemic has resulted in far fewer Vancouver Islanders leaving the Island and travelling throughout B.C., Canada or internationally this summer.

It’s also meant that certain popular summertime activities, such as tubing and camping, have become even more popular, as people look for something fun to do while staying safe.

In this episode of The New Normal, CHEK’s Stacy Ross speaks to Allison Roberts of RLC Parks Services, which operates 26 parks on Vancouver Island, about camping amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Roberts says demand for camping, particularly at traditionally less popular provincial parks on Vancouver Island, has surged as many stay closer to home amid COVID-19.
